‘Even if Warner doesn’t play, it doesn’t matter to the team…’, the veteran batsman’s big statement
Australia’s veteran opener David Warner has withdrawn from the third and fourth Test against India. The Australian team is currently on a four-Test tour of India to play the Border Gavaskar Trophy. In the first two matches of the series, hosts India thrashed Australia. Warner was hit on the head by a ball while batting in the second Test in Delhi, which ruled him out of the next two matches of the series. But according to Indian legend Akash Chopra, even if Warner is out of the team, it will not make any difference to the Australian team.
Although David Warner is one of the great opening batsmen of the Australian team, his form is poor at the moment. Aakash Chopra feels that even though Warner has missed the last two matches of the series due to injury, he will not do much harm to the team. The Indian team won the first match of this Test series by an innings and 132 runs. After that, India won by 6 wickets in the second match between the two teams. Warner scored 1 and 10 runs in the first match, while he scored 15 runs in the first innings of the second match. Due to injury, Warner did not bat for the second time in this match. The Indian team is currently leading the series 2-0 and has been retained again by the Border Gavaskar Trophy team.
Former India opener Akash Chopra said about Warner’s injury, “David Warner is back home. He is an injury victim. He is said to have suffered a minor fracture. He will not be available for the third and fourth Tests. Will this weaken the Australian team? So I don’t think that will happen. The way Warner’s numbers have been against India and Ravichandran Ashwin, I don’t think it will make any difference to the Australian team.”
Meanwhile, Matt Renshaw was brought into the squad after Warner withdrew from the middle in the Delhi Test. In the second innings of this match Travis Head got off to a good start along with Usman Khawaja. According to information, Warner may rejoin the team for the ODI series against India, but there is no concrete information about this. The ODI series between the two teams will begin on March 17.
