‘Even in Olympics there is only one race to win gold’, Cummins comments on Rohit’s ‘that’ statement

The Indian team suffered a 209-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the final of the World Test Championship 2023. On the other hand, after the defeat, Indian captain Rohit Sharma suggested a three-match series for the WTC final. He said that after two years of hard work, the team reaches the finals, it would have been better if the finals had been a three-match series. Statement by Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma said after the match, “I am also in favor of playing a three-match series in the final, but is there time for that? For such a big match, both the teams should get proper time. I think the three-match series will be good, but we have to find time for it. After two years of hard work you only get one chance. The rhythm of Test cricket cannot be acquired suddenly. In the next cycle, if possible, it should be the final match of the three-match series.”

Speaking further, he had also said that “20-25 days should be given to prepare for such big competitions.” In addition, he answered a question and said, “Why June for the final of the World Test Championship? This match can also be organized in February-March. May be held in other countries than England.”

After the match, Rohit said, “We had a good start after losing the toss on the first day. We bowled well in the first session. However, we could not bowl well after that. All the credit goes to the Australian batsmen. Travis Head batted brilliantly, that’s when the match started slipping away from us. We knew it would be difficult to come back from here.”

Indian team all out for 234 runs
Australia had challenged the Indian team by 444 runs in the second innings. However, the Indian team ended on 234 runs in the second innings. Therefore, Australia won this match by 209 runs. Virat Kohli (49), Ajinkya Rahane (46) and Rohit Sharma (43) contributed more than 40 runs for India in the second innings. None of the other batsmen could make a special innings.
