Even this time the priest is the scapegoat! The former captain targeted Virat-Rohit

The Indian team will tour the West Indies next month. India has to play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20I series here. The BCCI announced the squad for the Test and ODI series on Friday (June 24). However, experienced Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from the squad. Against this backdrop, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar was unhappy with the selection process.

The Indian team was defeated by 209 runs in the final match of the recently concluded World Test Championship. Almost all batsmen of Indian team failed in this match except Ajinkya Rahane. Cheteshwar Pujara () had just come from playing county cricket and was expected to bat well in the WTC final. However, Pujara was also not able to make big innings like other batsmen. Pajura was not a lone failure for India in this match. But the selectors and the team management seem to have blamed Pujara for the defeat.

Cheteshwar Pujara was not named in India’s Test squad for the Test tour against West Indies. Seeing this, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar expressed displeasure. “Yes, he is playing county cricket. He has played a lot of red ball cricket, so he also knows how to make a comeback. Other players are still playing at 40-39 years of age. There is nothing wrong with this. Because they are all very fit. As long as you are scoring runs and taking wickets, I don’t see any reason to drop you from the team.”

“It is good that only one player has been dropped from the team. But failure happened to others too. According to me, the batsmen had failed. Apart from Ajinkya Rahane, no one scored. Why was only Pujara removed from the team? Why is he being made a scapegoat for the failings of the batting order? He is a sincere servant of Indian team. The reason for this is that he does not have millions of followers on any social media platform, which would create chaos after his removal from the team,” Gavaskar added. This time he also indirectly targeted big players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
