Whenever great bowlers are discussed in world cricket, the name of a bowler like England’s James Anderson comes to mind. Anderson is currently second in the ICC rankings of bowlers behind Indian spinner R Ashwin. He has 829 marks. Also, he has taken 686 wickets in Tests so far. He is only the third player in the world to do so. Meanwhile, India’s fast bowler Ishant Sharma has made a big comment about Anderson.
India’s veteran star bowler Ishant Sharma has raised controversial questions about the career of 40-year-old James Anderson. He said in a YouTube channel podcast that if Anderson had played for India, his career would not have been the same. Earlier he compared Anderson with former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan.
‘Zaheer Khan is better than Anderson’
Ishant was asked if he ever discussed his bowling and growing age with Anderson. To this, Ishant said that Anderson has trained and bowled in a very different position compared to an Indian bowler. He said, “James Anderson’s bowling style and method is very different. He plays in different conditions in England. Maybe, if he had played in India, he might not have had that kind of success. Jack, he’s better than Jimmy Anderson.”
Ishant equaled Zaheer’s wickets
Interestingly, Zaheer Khan last played an international match for India in 2014. He has taken 311 wickets for India during a long Test career spanning 14 years. In fact, Ishant also has 311 Test wickets to his name, equaling Zaheer Khan. (fast bowler ishant sharma zaheer khan is better than james anderson)
