Thursday (July 6) was a historic one for the Netherlands cricket team. In the qualifier matches for the ODI World Cup 2023, Netherlands on Thursday won against Scotland by 4 wickets. This match is decisive for the Netherlands and after the win, the team has qualified for the World Cup. This was the eighth match of the Super Sixes round of qualifier matches. Bas de Lied put in a tremendous performance to secure the Netherlands a place in the World Cup. He was also awarded the Man of the Match award.

Netherlands won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Scotland scored 277 for 9 in 50 overs. In reply, Netherlands reached the target in 42.5 overs. The Netherlands won by 278 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and became the 10th team to qualify for the World Cup. Before that, the Sri Lankan team had secured their place for the World Cup by playing in the qualifiers. Bas De Leede was the match winner for the Netherlands. He took 5 wickets for 52 runs in 10 overs while bowling first. As a batsman, he scored 123 runs in 92 balls. This all-round performance made victory easy for the Netherlands team.

This remains the bass de lead’s best performance so far. He became only the fourth player to take five wickets and a century in ODI cricket. Bas de Leed has so far played 29 ODIs and 31 T20 Internationals for the Netherlands. He has 642 and 610 runs to his name in both these formats respectively. As a bowler, he has taken 19 wickets in ODI cricket and 27 wickets in T20 cricket.
