Finally, the door of the Test team opened for Rituraj! Golden opportunity for West Indies tour

India and West Indies will face each other next month. The BCCI announced the Indian squad for the Test and ODI series against the West Indies on Friday (June 23). A five-match T20 series between the two teams will also be played. However, the team has not yet come forward for that. The West Indies tour could be a special one for Pune native Rituraj Gaikwad.

Rituraj, who is currently playing in the Maharashtra Premier League, will directly leave for the West Indies tour next month. Before MPL 2023, Rituraj got married in the first week of June. The final match of the World Test Championship was played between India and Australia. Rituraj was also selected for this match. But he missed this important match due to his marriage. But this time his Test debut in the West Indies tour is considered certain. This Test series will be played from July 12 to 24.

One of the major changes in the squad for the Test series against the West Indies is the inclusion of Rituraj. With regular opener KL Rahul out of the squad, Rituraj could open the innings for India in this series. On the other hand, the post of vice-captain of the team has once again been entrusted to Ajinkya Rahane. After scoring runs in county cricket, Pujara once again failed in Test cricket. He did not perform as expected for the team in the WTC finals. Asat Pujara will be dropped. The team management has given Ajinkya Rahane a place in the team. Rohit Sharma remains the captaincy.
