First Indian player to play in Women’s CPL; A chance for Shreyanka Patil before playing for Team India

India’s young off-spinner Shreyanka Patil will play in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League. Shreyanka will be the first Indian player to play in the Women’s CPL. Shreyanka has been signed by CPL team Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India does not allow its male players to participate in any league abroad. However, this condition does not apply to women’s cricket team. BCCI has already allowed the women’s cricket team players to play in foreign leagues. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodriguez, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh have played in Australia’s Big Bash League and England’s The Hundred League.

From last year BCCI also started Women’s Premier League like Indian Premier League back home. Shreyanka Patil has been a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the WPL. She is part of the Karnataka team in domestic cricket. Even before making her debut for India, she got the chance to play in this foreign league.

Shreyanka had a tremendous performance for the India A team in the recently concluded Women’s Emerging Asia Cup. She was also given the serial hero award in this competition. In the match against Hong Kong, she took five wickets at the expense of two runs. They played two matches in this tournament.
