“First the country and then the Mumbai Indians”, the Indian legend lashed out at Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah, the veteran fast bowler of the Indian cricket team, has not played cricket for the Indian team for the last six months. Due to a back injury, he could not play in the important tournaments like Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. He will then miss the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy four-match Test series against Australia as well as the upcoming ODI series. However, he will be seen playing in the IPL starting next month. Former Indian opener and famous commentator Akash Chopra has now expressed his opinion on this issue.

Bumrah has been criticized by fans and critics for being available for the entire IPL without playing much for India. Some accuse Bumrah of giving more importance to money than country. Akash Chopra spoke on this issue in his YouTube video. he said,

“Bumrah is yet to meet the fitness certificate from the National Cricket Academy. Even if he was fit, I wouldn’t have played him in this series. Because, currently the team is performing excellently. He is the key player for India so it is necessary to rest him. I would have played him directly in the final of the World Test Championship.”

He went on to say,

“Many are criticizing the issue of him being fit for the IPL. However, there will be coordination between BCCI and its franchisee. Any franchise would think that a player belongs to the country first and the franchise second. Be it the franchise Chennai Super Kings or Mumbai Indians.”
