Gambhir reacts to Bairstow’s run-out controversy, taunts Australia, ‘Sledgers you…’
The Lord’s Test between England and Australia was a well contested one. Australia won the second match of the Ashes 2023 by 43 runs to take a crucial 2-0 lead in the series. Captain Ben Stokes fought alone in the fourth innings for England in this match. He scored a whirlwind half century. However, he could not lead the team to victory. However, the way Jonny Bairstow was run out in this match has created a lot of discussion. Now former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has reacted to it.
On the final day of the Test, Cameron Green bowled the last ball a few overs before the end of the first session. Jonny Bairstow, who was batting, dropped the ball and continued. However, Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey threw the ball directly at the wickets after receiving the ball. The Australian players made a strong appeal. As the on-field umpires did not understand exactly what had happened, he was dismissed after appealing to the third umpire. However, Bairstow stood out, thinking the over was over.
Hey sledgers….does spirit of the game logic apply to u or is it just for Indians?

Many expected that Australia should have shown sportsmanship in this matter. Gautam Gambhir also struck a similar tone. He tweeted,
‘Sledgers, can’t the logic of player attitude be used here? That it is only for Indians.’
Although this controversy is debated, according to ICC rules, an over is not over until the umpire declares it. Hence, Bairstow is said to be out.
