Gambhir’s homecoming? After ten years, Shivadhanushya will lift KKR to become champions
The sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the world’s biggest professional T20 league, has just concluded. A month after the end of the IPL, the teams have already started preparing for the next season. Lucknow Supergiants, who made it to the playoffs in their first two seasons, are likely to get a new coach. Also, former Indian opener and former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir can once again become a part of KKR.
According to media reports, former Australia coach Justin Langer may be appointed as the head coach of the Lucknow team in place of Andy Flower. Actions in this regard have been initiated by the team management. Along with this, Gautam Gambhir, who is the mentor of the team, may also be replaced.
In such a situation, it is said that Kolkata Knight Riders will try to lure Gambhir once again. They can hire him as a team mentor. Currently the head coach of KKR team is Chandrakant Pandit.
Gambhir was the captain of KKR from 2011 to 2017. Under his leadership, KKR won the IPL title for two years i.e. 2012 and 2014. In the six years since Gambhir left the team, the team has only made it to the playoffs twice. In such a situation Gambhir can be given the responsibility to make the team successful once again. For this, team CEO Venky Mysore and team owner Shahrukh Khan himself can be seen trying.
