Ganguly-Ponting clashed over the ‘Impact Player’ rule! Faction in Delhi Capitals camp?

The next season of Indian Premier League i.e. IPL which is the biggest T20 league in the world is just four days away. In this new season we will also get to see many new rules. These new rules are expected to make the competition even more colorful. At the same time, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting and mentor Sourav Ganguly have given contradictory reactions about the new rule of impact player used in IPL.

Now I will see impact player rule for the first time in IPL. In this, the captain of each team will announce the name of the twelfth player during the coin toss. This player can be substituted for another player in the current match. However, after that the first player will not be able to re-enter the match. This time this rule will be for Indian players only.

Due to this rule, Ganguly and Ponting have come face to face. Talking about this new rule, Ganguly said,

“We are ready to play by new rules. I would disagree with people’s opinion and say that due to these rules, all-rounders will definitely survive. If you have skills, you will survive.”

A few days ago Delhi’s head coach Ricky Ponting said,

“The impact player rule will reduce the importance of many all-rounders. It remains to be seen how much it benefits the Indian players though.”

Earlier too many veterans had opposed this rule. Many said that this will remember the contribution of Indian players in a single division.
