Suryakumar scored only 23 runs in the first 12 balls of this match. He then went on to score 80 off the next 31 balls. Due to this he completed 103 runs with the help of 6 sixes and 11 fours. Surya had to wait for as many as 120 innings to make this century. As soon as these runs were scored, a special coincidence happened between Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma.

Suryakumar completed his maiden IPL century on 12 May 2023. Interestingly, captain Rohit Sharma also completed his maiden IPL century 11 years ago on 12 May 2012.
