However, now Hardik himself has revealed that he was ready to play for Lucknow and not Gujarat.

Gujarat, the most expensive franchise in IPL history, achieved a historic feat to win the title in its first season. Hardik Pandya, who was appointed as the captain, contributed the best for the team in both the roles of all-rounder and captain. But Hardik himself has revealed that he was initially offered to play for the Lucknow team.

Hardik said,

“I was initially asked about playing for the Lucknow team. I am ready for it. Because I knew that KL Rahul was going to lead this team. As he is a good friend of mine, I was excited to play under him. However, at the same time, I had a conversation with Ashish Nehra. He said that he asked me to coach the Gujarat team. He just said, if I am the coach of the team, you play for Gujarat. Then things fell into place and I played for Gujarat.”

Ashish Nehra also had the honor of leading the team to a first-time title as coach. Earlier he worked as bowling coach for RCB.
