‘He played only three balls…’, what Rohit Sharma said on Suryakumar’s poor ODI performance?

Indian team’s key batsman Suryakumar Yadav was a complete failure in the ODI series against Australia. After the first two matches of the series, Suryakumar became a ‘golden duck’ in the third ODI on Wednesday (March 22). Suryakumar could not score a single run in these three matches, which directly affected the team’s performance. In all the three matches, the Indian team could not score big. However, captain Rohit Sharma backed Suryakumar Yadav after the loss in the third ODI.

Suryakumar Yadav’s performance in this series saw him bowl a total of three balls in three matches and lost his wicket on the first ball each time. In the third ODI match on Wednesday, Suryakumar was bowled by Ashton Agar. Australia won the match by 21 runs to win the series 1-2. Speaking to the media after losing the series, captain Rohit Sharma was seen backing Suryakumar.

Rohit said, “It is very unfortunate that Suryakumar could only bowl three balls in the ODI series against Australia. But it can happen to anyone. He was dismissed on three incredible balls. He had chosen the wrong shot to play. We already know him. He plays well against spinners. So we kept him back so that he could bat freely in the last 15 to 20 overs.”

“However, Suryakumar has quality and potential. He is just going through a bad time,” added Rohit. Meanwhile, the team management sent Suryakumar to bat at number seven in the third ODI. In the first two matches, however, Surya played at number four. Meanwhile, considering this last match between the two teams, Australia scored 269 runs while batting first. In reply, India could not reach the target of 270 runs. The Indian team was all out for 248 runs.
