The final match of Women’s Premier League 2023 was played on Sunday (March 26) between Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians. In this match at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai’s bowler Hayley Mathews performed a feat. Healy became the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Interestingly, the Mumbai women bagged a place among the top 5 bowlers who took the most wickets in the entire tournament. Haley came out on top.
Three wickets taken in the final match
Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat in the final match. This decision was initially decided by the Mumbai bowlers as completely wrong. Mumbai bowlers prevented Delhi from scoring big in this match. In this match, Delhi scored 131 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Hayley Matthews took 3 wickets out of these 9 wickets. Haley bowled 4 overs and took 3 wickets for just 5 runs.

Most wickets in the tournament
Healy dismissed Mumbai batsmen Jess Jonasson (2 runs), Minnu Mani (1 run) and Tania Bhatia (0 runs). With these three wickets, Healy became the joint top wicket-taker in the Women’s Premier League 2023. Hailey has scored 202 runs in 10 matches with 16 wickets at an economy rate of 5.94. Her best bowling performance of the tournament was 3 wickets for 5 runs in the final match itself.
Apart from Healy, Sophie Ecclestone of UP Warriors did the feat of taking the most wickets. Sophie has also taken 16 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 6.61. Sophie’s best bowling performance of the tournament was 4 wickets for 13 runs.
Such a record of Haley
Interestingly, Haley did another special feat in the final. Haley became the first player to bowl two unbeaten overs in the tournament. Healy bowled the 12th over and the 16th over of the final. Hence, she holds the record of bowling 2 unbeaten overs. (Most wickets In Women’s Premier League 2023)
