Hitman in the ‘record books’ despite scoring only 1 run! Rohit is second only after Sachin
The fifth match of the IPL 2023 tournament between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. In this match, Bangalore won the toss and decided to bowl. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma failed this time. He managed to score only one run. However, despite this, he recorded a record to his name.
After losing the toss, Mumbai got the opportunity to bat first. However, all three batsmen in Mumbai’s top order failed. Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 10 runs off 13 balls. Cameron Green could only score 5 runs in 4 balls. Mumbai scored 29 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 6 overs. Meanwhile, Rohit also played 10 balls. In the meantime, he also got a life. However, he could not take advantage of this life and returned to the tent at a run.
Although Rohit didn’t come up with big scores, even a single run added up to a huge feat in his name. Rohit became only the second batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score 2000 runs for Mumbai Indians as an opener. Sachin Tendulkar scored 2227 runs as an opener for Mumbai, while Quinton de Kock has 1329 runs as an opener for Mumbai.
Rohit set another record while stepping on the field in this match. He became the third captain in the world to lead in 200 T20 matches. India’s MS Dhoni holds the world record of captaincy in 307 T20 matches. Whereas, Darren Sammy of West Indies has played 208 matches while leading various teams.
