“Hope they don’t drop me”, why did Head say that a century later?

The first day of the final match of the World Test Championship took place on Wednesday (June 7). This match between the two teams is being played at The Oval Stadium in England. After losing the toss, Australia had to bat first. However, thanks to the contributions of both Steve Smith and Travis Head, the team was able to cross the 300-run mark. Head, who scored an unbeaten century on the first day, took aim at his own selection committee while reacting after the day’s play.

After winning the toss and bowling first, the Indian bowlers had bowled out Australia’s first three batsmen for 76 runs. However, the head that came to bat after that fell apart on the Indian bowlers. He even started scoring runs while batting ODI style. After completing his half-century, he stepped up his attack and completed his first century of the final in 106 balls. He ended the day’s play unbeaten on 146 off 156 balls. It includes 22 fours and one six.

Speaking after the first day’s play, he said,

“I don’t think much about the place in the team. Because this thing is not in our hands. At some point we are going to be excluded. I always focus on the game and try to do better. The only thing I think is that I won’t have to sit on the bench for much longer. I am getting support from the captain and the team management.”

By the end of the first day’s play, the Australian team had scored 327 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. A total of 85 overs could be played on the first day. The Indian team will face the challenge of knocking out Australia early on the next day.
