How many runs can the Indian team chase? Confidence was seen in Ajinkya Rahane’s answer
The Australian team is in a strong position heading into the final of the World Test Championship. At the end of the third day’s play, India trailed Australia by 296 runs. Other important batsmen of the Indian team failed first. However, Ajinkya Rahane, who returned to the team after 18 months, turned out to be the savior. Saran’s 89 on day three helped the Indian team avoid the follow-on. After the day’s play, Ajinkya Rahane gave a special reaction to the media.
Australia scored 123 for 4 at the end of the third day in the second innings. Saturday (June 10) will be the fourth day of the WTC final, which will be crucial for the Indian team. If India are to claim the WTC trophy, they will need to pick up quick wickets on Saturday. If the Indian bowlers fail to take quick wickets, the Australian team will put up a huge score, which the Indian team will not be able to achieve. However, Ajinkya Rahane, however, looks set to achieve whatever target the Australian team sets.
After the third day’s innings, Rahane told the media, “No matter how many runs Australia scores, we will try to achieve the target. Our bowling was good today. But we want to make our show real again. The first session will be very important. If quick wickets are taken, we can stop them from scoring. The team made a good comeback. The Australian team is currently in a slight lead. But if conditions go in our favor in the first session and overall throughout the day, the team can make a comeback. It’s how you conduct yourself when you’re behind that matters.”
Meanwhile, considering the overall match between the two teams, Australia batted first after losing the toss. Australia’s score at the end of the first day was 327 for 3. In the first innings, Australia scored 469 runs in 121.3 overs. In reply, however, the Indian team managed to reach 296 runs in 69.4 overs. Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121) scored individual centuries for Australia in the first innings. Rahane, who was the best performer for India, missed his century by just 11 runs. Rahane made an important contribution of 89 runs off 129 balls under pressure. (Ajinkya Rahane gave a big reaction about chasing the target)
