“I want to see Team India become world champions twice this year”, expressed Gavaskar’s wish
2023 is going to be a very important year for the Indian cricket team. Because, the Indian team will have a chance to win two important ICC tournaments this year. There is a strong possibility that the Indian team will be seen playing in the finals of the World Test Championship to be played in the month of June. Also, since the ODI World Cup is being held in India this year, India will have a better chance of winning it as well. Regarding this issue, India’s all-time great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has expressed a wish.
The Indian team is always seen as a potential winner in major tournaments. However, India have not won any senior tournament since the 2013 Champions Trophy. Last year in the T20 World Cup, the Indian team had to face defeat in the semi-finals. Therefore, the Indian team will try to end this drought in the ODI World Cup, the final match of this year’s World Test Championship.
Veteran Sunil Gavaskar expressed the hope that the Indian team will win both these tournaments. Speaking at a program, he said,
“The Indian team is playing cricket in an excellent manner right now. For the same reason, I would like to see India win both the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup.”
India will enter the final of the World Test Championship for the second time in a row after winning another match in the ongoing Test series against Australia. The final will be played from June 6 at The Oval. So, the Indian team will host the ODI World Cup in the month of October-November. The Indian team last won the ODI World Cup in 2011.
