‘I was fully prepared even for the WTC fine…’ Ashwin expressed his regret after taking the quintet of wickets

The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma is currently on a tour of the West Indies. The two-match Test series between India and West Indies begins in Dominica on Wednesday (July 12). The first day of this match was in the name of Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin took 5 wickets for West Indies. However, the same Ashwin could not make it to the playing eleven for the final match of WTC 2021-23. Ashwin once again expressed his displeasure about this.

The final match of the World Test Championship i.e. WTC 2021-23 (WTC 2021-23) was played between India and Australia. In this match, the Indian team had to accept defeat against Australia. Ravichandran Ashwin was left out of the playing XI citing the pitch. However, with Ashwin not playing, the team had to pay a heavy price. Ashwin was very excited for this match, but he couldn’t do anything about the team management’s decision. Later he expressed his displeasure about this in an interview.

It was Ashwin who was part of India’s playing XI in the Dominica Test against West Indies and took a quintet of wickets in the first innings to bowl out West Indies for just 150 runs. Speaking to the media after this stunning performance, Ashwin was asked about the WTC final and Ashwin said, “I’m sad about the WTC final. It is a deep regret that we went to the final two times and did not win. Now starting the new WTC season here in the West Indies, my performance has been good. I am very happy to perform like this. The team has also had a good start to the new WTC season.”

“I have spoken about it before,” Ashwin said about being left out of the WTC final. I was fully prepared for the final. I also got fit and had a strategy. How will you prove yourself if you are fully prepared but get out of the match at the right time? There is no cricketer or person in this world who has not seen ups and downs in life. When going through a bad time in life, you have two chances. First is to keep complaining about it and second is to learn new things from it. I belong to the second type of person, who learns through adversity and never gives up on opportunities.”

Meanwhile, the Indian team came into bat after West Indies were bowled out for 150 runs on the first day of the Dominica Test. Rohit Sharma and Yashshwi Jaiswal took India to 80 not out by the end of the day’s play. Jaiswal 40*, while Rohit Sharma remains on the pitch with 30* runs. (After taking five wickets against West Indies, Ashwin expressed his displeasure at not getting a chance for WTC final.)
