‘I will play Ashes series again because of a message from Ben Stokes’: Moeen Ali

England all-rounder Moeen Ali recently retired from Test cricket. Now Moin himself has revealed why he took this decision. He was named in the Ashes series starting on June 16. Moeen replaces Jack Leach, who was ruled out of the 16-man squad with a stress fracture in his lower back.

Moeen further said that Stokes is the only England captain who could convince him to come out of Test retirement for the upcoming Ashes series. Asked if there was another captain who could persuade him to change the decision, Moeen said, “Probably not.”

Moeen is also Stokes’ partner with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. At the time, he said that the England captain had not talked about leaving him during the IPL. It was only about the Ashes. He has clearly seen me practice. I think I can bowl well.
