‘If I were India’s selector…’, Aussie legend’s big comment on Kishan-Bharat, read what he said
Only 4 days are left for the start of the final of the World Test Championship 2023. Even before this important match, former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden gave his opinion on the two Indian batsmen on Thursday (June 01). He said that the Indian team will miss Rishabh Pant in the WTC final. In addition, he also said that India should give Ishan Kishan a chance to replace KS Bharat as a wicket-keeper.
The WTC Final will be played between India vs Australia from June 7. This match will be played at London’s K Oval ground. The Indian team is practicing vigorously for this match. In December 2022, Pant was seriously injured in a road accident. After that, Pant was out of many tournaments including Border-Gavaskar Trophy, IPL. Now he won’t be seen playing in the WTC final either. This can be a big loss for India.
Indian team management has included KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan in the squad for the WTC final. In fact, Bharat got a chance to play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in February. However, he could not do anything special there. Also, Kishan is yet to make his Test debut. So a big problem before India is which player should get a chance as a wicket keeper. Former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden commented on this.
He said, “One of the biggest losses for the Indian team right now is the absence of Rishabh Pant. If I were the selector of the Indian team, Ishan Kishan would have been kept in the wicket-keeping batsman. He does well in the batting and fielding departments.”
Kishan is known for his aggressive batting in limited overs cricket. Also, Pant used to do the same thing in Test cricket. This cricket expert is of the opinion that Ishaan Kishan should be included in the playing eleven for the WTC final to make up for the lack of a left-arm spinner. Kishan scored a total of 454 runs at a strike rate of over 140 in 16 matches in the recently concluded IPL season.
