Imran Khan granted bail after incidents of violence, Pakistan on brink of emergency
Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, was arrested outside the Islamabad High Court on May 9. After his arrest, his supporters set fire to many places in Pakistan. Now that Imran has been granted bail after the violence in the country, he cannot be arrested in any case till May 17.
Imran Khan is the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. He has also held the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan. After the arrest, there was a lot of violence in Pakistan. In just three days after that, Imran Khan got a big relief from the Islamabad High Court. The Islamabad High Court has granted two-week bail to Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case. A bench of Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz directed all the defendants in the case to be ready for further hearing. Currently only on bail, his supporters say they will still continue their protest through peaceful means.
Imran Khan, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has played a total of 88 Test matches for Pakistan. He has scored 3807 runs at an average of 37.69. This includes 6 centuries and 18 fifties. Additionally, he also took 362 wickets at an economy rate of 2.66 in Tests while bowling. On the other hand, he has scored 3709 runs at an average of 33.41 in 175 ODIs. He has taken 182 wickets in ODIs at an economy rate of 3.9. Under his leadership, Pakistan won the 1992 ODI Cricket World Cup. After that he participated in active politics.
