The fifth match of the IPL 2023 tournament between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. All the cricket lovers expected this match to be colorful. However, captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli put on a storming century partnership for RCB to make the match one-sided. After losing the toss, Mumbai Indians got a chance to bat, but the front line was a complete failure. The team’s first four batsmen returned for just 48 runs. Kishan was dismissed for 10 off 13 balls. Cameron Green could only score 5 runs in 4 balls. Captain Rohit also scored a single run. Mumbai scored 29 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 6 overs. After that, Yuva Tilak Verma and Nehal Vadhera shared a partnership and took Mumbai to the hundred mark. Eventually, Tilak along with Arshad Khan took the team to a respectable 171 runs. Tilak scored an unbeaten 84 off 46 balls.
Chasing these runs for victory, captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, an experienced opening pair, entered the field. After the pair bowled the first two overs comfortably, Mumbai attacked the bowlers. Both completed individual fifties by literally raining sixes and fours. Plessis was dismissed for an individual 73 runs while the team scored 148 runs. Karthik, who came third, could not even open his account. Finally, Maxwell and Virat completed the task of victory. Virat scored an unbeaten 82 runs to win the team.
