After losing the WTC Final, head coach Rahul Dravid said, “It was a tough challenge, but no matter how far behind you are, there is hope. There have been many Test matches in the last two years where we have fought back. We needed a big partnership, but Australia pressured the match. It wasn’t a 469-run pitch, but we spent a lot of runs in the final session on day one.”
Speaking further, Dravid said, “The line length of our bowlers was not bad, but we bowled too much outside. Gave Travis Head a lot of room.” Talking about the team’s batting, Dravid said, “Our top five batsmen are very experienced. These players have won in Australia, but in England they have not been able to bat to their calibre. I agree that the pitch was good, but our batsmen let us down.”

Interestingly, the Indian team lost by 209 runs against Australia in the WTC final. In the final match, India was challenged to 444 runs in the fourth innings.
