“India-Pakistan match bigger than Ashes”, Windies legend keen for World Cup

In international cricket, fans turn out in large numbers to watch traditional matches between the two countries. The rivalry between Australia and England plays well in all three forms of cricket. The Test series between these two teams has a long tradition and has been named Ashes. However, veteran West Indies opener Chris Gayle has said that the rivalry between India and Pakistan is the biggest.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule has been announced. The match between India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on October 15. Whenever there is a match between India and Pakistan, the fans of both the countries want their team not to lose. So there is pressure on both the teams.

According to Gayle, the rivalry between the two countries is huge. Speaking to a news channel, he said, “The match between India and Pakistan is bigger than the Ashes. It is watched by millions of people worldwide. It will be interesting to see what happens on October 15. I will definitely watch this match.”

When it comes to ODI World Cup, Indian team is yet to lose a single match against Pakistan. The two teams have faced each other seven times in the World Cup so far, with the Indian team winning each time.

Earlier, Gayle has also predicted the semi-finalists of the 2023 World Cup. According to Gayle, teams from India, Pakistan, England and New Zealand can reach the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup. Gayle did not put the likes of Australia and South Africa as potential semi-finalists.
