“Indian players put pressure on umpires”, Nitin Menon’s shocking allegation
The role of umpires is always important on the cricket field. The umpire is responsible for ensuring that the game is played properly. Many times wrong decisions are also given in this. A revelation made by India’s only umpire, Nitin Menon, who is now on the ICC Elite Panel, has created a stir in Indian cricket circles. He directly said that Indian players put pressure during the match. The
Menon is the only Indian umpire who has been on the ICC Elite Panel for some time now. He will get an opportunity to work as an umpire in the third match of the ongoing Ashes series. After S Ravi, he will have the honor of playing Panchgiri in this prestigious series. Earlier, he recently gave an interview to a news agency. Speaking in this interview, he made a big accusation against the Indian players. He said,
“When playing in India, it often happens that the Indian players put pressure on us. Some of India’s best-known players often try to tip decisions with 50-50 odds. However, as a umpire, you have to be able to handle that kind of pressure. Accordingly, it is necessary to be neutral and give a decision.”
Menon has emerged as India’s lowest umpire in the last two years. If we consider his career as an umpire, he has worked in 18 Tests, 44 ODIs and 40 T20 International matches. He also played first class cricket for Madhya Pradesh before becoming an umpire. Also his father Narendra has also been a national level umpire.
