International matches possible in Maharashtra, Indian Football Federation is considering Kolhapur

Pune – Maharashtra has started making its mark in football. Although this is the beginning, Maharashtra can also step forward in this game in the future. Maharashtra has paid attention to football development and player formation. All India Football Federation president Kalyan Choubey said that Kolhapur has impressed us in this as well.

Chaubey had come to Pune for a private work. As the president of the Football Federation then, he interacted with the media. Even while playing as a footballer, we were attracted to Kolhapur. Recalling that when we came there for a match, we were inspired by the crowd there when no player from Maharashtra was playing, Choubey assured that we would definitely consider playing an international match in Kolhapur in the future.

The development of the game and the player is our priority and is given importance in our football development work. After becoming President, while visiting various states, I was amazed to see the performance of the players from North East states. Their aggressiveness, their pace of play was incredible. As part of this, we have given Manipur the first opportunity to host friendly tri-matches, Chaubey said, adding that if these players can progress so much just by watching matches on TV, then if they get proper guidance and facilities, these players can progress even more.

In this meeting, Chaubey explained that he has given priority to the development and construction of the football ground. To grow football it must be played more and that requires fields. Such infrastructure is built in the countries where Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games are held. So we are looking at how international football matches will be played in India. We are trying to organize an Asian tournament for this. So that on the occasion of this competition, international standard fields will be built. Once the grounds are ready, planning will be done on how to use them, he said. He also explained that we are thinking of reviving the closed various competitions in the country and efforts are being made in this regard.
