IPL is more important than the country! Two veterans withdraw from important ODI series

Kane Williamson and Tim Southee will not play the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka at home for the upcoming IPL season. The IPL 2023 season will begin on March 31 and the New Zealand Cricket Board has allowed Williamson, Southee along with Devon Conway and Mitchell Sattner to travel to India.

The Sri Lankan team is currently on a tour of New Zealand. New Zealand won the first Test between the two teams on Monday (March 13). The second match of the series will begin on Friday (March 17). Kane Williamson (Kane Williamson), Tim Southee (Tim Southee), Devon Conway and Mitchell Sattner will be released from the responsibility of the national team after playing this match starting on Friday. All four players can then be linked with their IPL franchise.

The first ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be played in Auckland on March 25. After this match, three more New Zealand players Finn Allen (RCB), Lockie Ferguson (KKR) and Glenn Phillips (Sunrisers Hyderabad) will leave for India. Meanwhile, the first match of IPL 2023 will be played between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. In Williamson’s absence, New Zealand Cricket has handed over the captaincy of the ODI team to Tom Latham. The second match of the ODI series will be played in Christchurch on March 28. Mark Chapman, Ben Lister and Henry Nicholls will be added to the squad ahead of this match. Tom Blundell and Will Young have returned to the team selected for the limited overs series. The team also has new faces in Chad Bowes and Wayne Lister.
