‘It has become a habit now…’, what captain Rohit Sharma said about Bumrah, read in detail
Indian team captain Rohit Sharma gave a big reaction after the second ODI match against Australia. India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the team for quite some time now. Due to injury, Bunrah will not be able to play for a long time. In this way, the Indian team is missing him. But according to Rohit, the Indian team has now learned to play without Bumrah. In the absence of Bumrah, other bowlers in the team have to replace him.
Jasprit Bumrah played his last international match against Australia in September 2022. Even before this series against Australia, Bumrah was out of the team for some time due to injury. After making his comeback against Australia, he got injured again and has not played a single match in the last five-six months. He also withdrew from the T20 World Cup last year along with the Asia Cup. He recently went to New Zealand to undergo surgery on the injury and will take another six months off to fully recover. This means that not only Bumrah will not play in the IPL 2023 season, his playing in the upcoming Asia Cup also cannot be considered a certainty.
Captain Rohit Sharma was talking to the media after accepting the defeat in the second ODI against Australia. This time Rohit was asked a question about Bumrah. Rohit said, “Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the team for more than eight months. So the team is used to playing without him. As we all know, Bumrah’s place is not easy to fill. But since it is not available, we have to move on without thinking about it. In his absence, other players will have to take responsibility. Siraj, Shami, Shardul, Umran and Jaydev Unadkad are good bowlers. These players have good quality.”
Meanwhile, under the leadership of Rohit, the Indian team won the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. India won the first two matches of this Test series, while Australia won the third match. India won 2-1 as the last Test match was a draw. India has won the first match of the two-team ODI series, while Australia has won the second match. The ODI series is currently tied at 1-1. The final and deciding ODI will be played in Chennai on March 22.
