Jurel’s ‘successful’ finish for Rajasthan! Punjab’s challenge ends with defeat

The 66th match of Indian Premier League 2023 was played between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Friday (May 18). It was the last chance for both teams to maintain their challenge in the playoff race. Batting first, Punjab scored 187 for 5. In reply, Rajasthan reached the target for the loss of 6 wickets in 19.4 overs. The defeat ended Punjab’s challenge in the playoff race.

Rajasthan Royals were given a target of 188 runs to win this match. Chasing the target, Rajasthan scored 189 runs in 19.4 overs and won the match. In the last over, Rajasthan needed 9 runs to win. Both Dhruv Jurrell and Trent Bould were recently on the pitch. Spinner Rahul Chahar was in front. Jurel scored four runs for the team in the first three balls. In the fourth ball of the over, Jurel hit a tremendous six and Rajasthan won the match.

Opener Jaishaswi Jaiswal once again shined for Rajasthan. Jaiswal scored his eighth half-century of the current IPL season on Friday (May 19). He made a significant contribution to the team’s victory by scoring 50 runs off 36 balls. Devdutt Padikkal, who came to bat at number three, scored 51 runs off 30 balls. Shimran Hetmyer’s contribution in the last overs was crucial to win the match. However, when the team was 9 runs away from victory, Hetmyral was caught and the Rajasthan team was in trouble.

Earlier, Punjab Kings had to bat first as they lost the toss. Punjab scored 187 for 5 in 20 overs of their innings. In this, Sam Karwan, Jitesh Sharma and M Shah Rukh Khan contributed the most.
