A high-scoring match between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Supergiants was played on Friday (April 28) in IPL 2023. In the match held at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the Lucknow batsmen scored 257 runs, removing the feathers of the Punjab bowlers. Chasing these runs, the Punjab team was bowled out for 201 runs. Lucknow won by as many as 56 runs and jumped to the second position in the points table. However, the contribution of captain KL Rahul in this victory of the team was very less.

Captain Rahul and Kyle Meyers opened for Lucknow who got the chance to bat first after losing the toss. Rahul got a life on the very first ball. However, even after that he could score only 12 runs. But, after he was dismissed, runs literally rained on the ground. Meyers scored 54, Ayush Badoni 43, Marker Stoinis 72 and Nicholas Pooran 45. With the contribution of all these, Lucknow posted the second highest score of 257 in IPL history.

Lucknow have put up many big scores so far this season. However, Rahul’s contribution in this is very less. He was dismissed for just 8 runs in the team’s 193 runs against Delhi. His contribution was 20 runs in the 205 against CSK. So, he managed to score only 13 runs in the 213 runs he successfully chased against RCB.

On the other hand, the same Rahul has been seen celebrating his half-century by playing more balls when the score is low. His contribution was 74 off 56 balls against Punjab, 39 off 32 balls against Rajasthan, 68 off 61 balls against Gujarat and 35 off 31 balls against Hyderabad.
