Karthik’s flop show continues! IPL 2023 is a matter of concern for RCB

The only match in IPL 2023 was played on Monday between Lucknow Supergiants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the match played at the Ikana Stadium in Lucknow, the pitch was helpful to the bowlers. On that pitch, RCB scored 126 for 9 while batting first. Dinesh Karthik, the team’s most experienced batsman, once again failed to live up to expectations in this match.

RCB won the toss and decided to bat first in this match. Seeing the slow pitch, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave RCB an opening of 62 runs in 9 overs. After that, other batsmen failed. Experienced Dinesh Karthik was responsible for giving the team a good finish. However, he was run out for 16 off 11 balls.

Karthik, who was the finisher for RCB with the highest strike rate last season, has been a complete failure this season. He has scored 99 runs at an average of 12.37 in 9 matches so far in the season. His strike rate remains at 133 and the highest score is just 28. Interestingly, he failed to open the account twice during this time.

Karthik batted best last year. He played a major role in taking RCB to the playoffs. After this performance, he got a chance to make a comeback in the Indian team. He then represented India in the 2022 T20 World Cup. However, he was again dropped from the Indian team after that.
