‘Lakshya’ Sports supports 40 players with 12 new players, unveils monitoring app Navya Gold

Pune, March 11, 2023: ‘Lakshya’, the national award-winning organization for supporting the sports sector in all aspects, expanded its reach by signing 12 new players to a total of 40 players. At the same time, a new monitoring app called Gold was unveiled.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion of Lakshya’s 13th anniversary, Satyen Patel, Chairman of Lakshya, said that our drive to support various sportspersons across the country is progressing step by step but surely. I am happy to say that from the stage of being a mere pastime or activity, the field of sports has now become a serious and long-lasting campaign in our country at the personal and professional level.

The field of sports is no longer something to be taken seriously only by athletes or organizations, but many organizations and governments have added to it that they are constantly striving to take Indian athletes to new heights. Targeting has become an important component of this entire system over the last decade. A part of the Lakshya family is proud of the players who have performed brilliantly at the international level and raised the national flag of the country.

Among the 12 players newly signed by Lakshya are Alifia Pathan (Asian Boxing Championship 2022 gold medalist) (Morde Foods), Devika Ghorpade (Youth World Boxing Championship gold medalist) (Edalgive), Ashish Kumar (Tokyo Olympics and Commonwealth Games member). (Sahyadri Industries), Divya Kakaran (Bronze Medalist at Common Wealth Games 2022) (Bharat Forge), Sunil Kumar (Gold Medalist at Asian Under-23 Boxing Championship 2023) (Edalgive), Member of Table Tennis Team at Common Wealth Games Reet Rishya ( Morde Foods), Fenesta Open National Tennis Tournament Doubles Runner-up Akanksha Nitture (Bharat Forge), Under-15 National Winner Jennifer Varghese (Cheviot), Under-19 National Championship 2022 Silver Medalist Tanisha Kotecha (Cheviot), Sneha Sharon (Sahyadri), Asian Badminton Championship 2022 silver medalists include Anish Denny (Sahyadri), Pratik Deshmukh (Sahyadri).

Sundar Iyer, secretary of Lakshya said, “Our goal is for India to be at the top of the Olympic medal table and this dream is possible. That is why we are supporting 40 players out of which 32 percent are male players and 38 percent are female players. The average age of players supported by Lakshya is 21 and among the players we have supported, 24 juniors and 16 senior players have won a total of 102 medals, including 13 major international tournaments, 23 international tournaments and 68 national tournaments. In this also 83 medals have been won by female players and 19 by male players.

Iyer added that Lakshya is progressing along with our players. We are not only helping them financially but also making them physically and mentally strong. We provide our players with fitness tests, mental conditioning, nutritionists, psychiatrists, injury management and assistance to players who need surgeries throughout the year.

He further said that our efforts have met with great success with Devika Ghorpade winning World Youth Boxing Championship, Alifia Pathan winning gold medal in Asian Boxing Championship 2022, Sharath Kamal winning Commonwealth gold medal, Divya Kakaran winning bronze medal in Commonwealth Championship, Suhana Saini winning bronze medal in World Youth Championship, Sajan Bhanwal Bronze medal in World Under 23 Wrestling Championships, Silver medal in Junior Asian Championships by Shravani Lawate, Gold medal in Asian Wrestling Championships by Sunil Kumar, we are proud of them.

Lakshya Treasurer Bharat Shah said, “We are unveiling Gold, a proprietary app to track the progress of athletes as they progress towards the goal of an Olympic medal. With this app, players will be able to monitor their rating, fitness and performance. Also, by analyzing the information received, future focus can be determined. As we are responsible for the funds received from various sponsors and the overall progress and requirements of the players will be collected through this app, the system will be transparent and hence will satisfy our investors.

Along with felicitating the players, a coffee table book was also unveiled on the occasion. In this coffee table book, information about 100 players supported by Lakshya in the last 13 years has been given. On this occasion Vishal Chordia, Vice President of Lakshya, Swastik Sirsikar, Ashish Desai, Player Mentor Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte, Lakshya Executive Members Sandeep Nulkar, Anil Chhajed, Girish Chitale, Harshal Morde and other dignitaries were present.
