Maharashtra Ironman’s tough fight, Telugu Talons held off in draw
Jaipur, June 20, 2023: The Premier Handball League match between Maharashtra Ironmen and Telugu Talons ended in a 30-30 draw on Tuesday. This was the second drawn match in the Premier Handball League.
The two top teams of the Premier Handball League, Maharashtra Ironman and Telugu Talons faced each other and their game had the excitement of the audience at its peak. Both Ironman and Talons have secured their place in the semi-finals and it was a treat for the fans to see two strong teams face off ahead of the crucial clash.
Ironman team coach Dr. Sunil Kumar rested some important players in today’s match. Captain Igor Chiseliov and Kiani did not start, while Naveen Deshwaal did not play today. Still, the Ironman players put up a strong performance. Manjeet Kumar, Sumit Kumar and Sumit Ghanghas launched a powerful attack to give the team a 7-5 lead in the first 15 minutes.
Talons were seen failing to penetrate Ironman’s defenses. Even in the absence of Chiseliov and Kiani, Ironman’s attacking edge remained sharp. Manjeet and Sumit Ghanghas both played brilliantly and took the Ironman lead. Shabnov played an amazing game, but he did not get support from other teammates. In the first half, Maharashtra Ironman strengthened the lead by 16-11.
Telugu fielded a strong starting line-up in the second half. Still, the level of ironman goals remained constant. Mohit Punia and Vijay Thakur extended the Ironman lead. Telugu’s Mohit Kumar played well and consistently tried to give the team the lead.
But, the Maharashtra players did not let them get their heads down and maintained a 23-19 lead till the middle of the second half. But, Kailash Patel tried to reduce the deficit by scoring consistently in the final session. Davinder Singh Bhullar and Naseeb Singh also attacked to reduce the deficit by two goals. Rahul Nain scored in the dying minutes of the match, Kailash Patel scored to equalize for Telugu. Maharashtra Ironman and Telugu Talons match ended in a 30-30 tie. Manjeet Kumar scored 9 goals while Davinder Singh Bhullar scored 7 goals for Telugu. Manjeet Kumar won the man of the match award. (Maharashtra Ironman’s tough fight, Telugu Talons held off in draw)
