Maharashtra Premier League. The thrill of cricket matches will start in Pune from June 15

Pune, May 22, 2023: Around 100 top-class cricketers including international players like Kedar Jadhav, Rituraj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi will participate in the upcoming Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) cricket tournament organized by Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune. The tournament will be played from 15 June 2023 at the state-of-the-art stadium of Maharashtra Cricket Association in Gahunje.

Maharashtra Cricket Association President Rohit Pawar said that it is a matter of pride for us to host the men’s Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) T20 cricket tournament with the approval of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and on the glorious lines of the IPL tournament. MCA Vice President Kiran Samant, MCA Honorary Secretary Shubendra Bhandarkar, MCA Treasurer Sanjay Bajaj and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.

Stating that six teams will participate in the first year of this tournament, Rohit Pawar further said that the purpose of organizing this tournament is to give an opportunity to the talented and emerging players of Maharashtra to show their quality at the professional level and thus get them recognition and fame at the national level.

Pawar also said that the tournament will be telecast live on DD Sports and other OTT channels so that the tournament can reach a larger audience across India.

Rohit informed that the players will be selected for the tournament through the auction process to be held on June 5 and more than 200 players from Pune, Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Sangli Satara, Ahmednagar, Beed, Dhule Buldhana, Ratnagiri Sinddurg, Raigad and Solapur have registered their names for this team selection. Pawar said.

Pawar said that while the owners of various teams can buy teams through a closed tender process, players and teams will be selected through a very transparent process.

Also, he appealed to the team owners to select the team through closed tender to maintain confidentiality and transparency. Also, he appealed to the big corporate, industrial and commercial organizations of Maharashtra to participate in this auction process and accept the ownership of a team of the tournament and create a great opportunity in the field of sports.
