Marijen Kapp became WPL’s best bowler, breaking fellow player’s record

Currently, Women’s Premier League is being played in India. This is the first season of WPL and women players are seeing more than one performance. The 9th match of the season was played between Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals on Saturday (March 11). Marijen Kapp had the best performance of the season for Delhi while bowling against Gujarat Giants. As a result, the Gujarat Giants team was wrapped up cheaply.

On Saturday (March 11), Mumbai’s D. Y. Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals women’s teams faced each other at the Patil Stadium. Gujarat captain Sneh Rana chose to bat first after winning the toss. But the bowling attack of Delhi Capitals made Rana’s decision wrong. South Africa’s all-rounder Marizanne Kapp took the most 5 wickets by spending 15 runs in four overs. This was the best performance by a bowler in the WPL. Apart from Cap, Shikha Pandye took 3 wickets for Delhi in this match giving 26 runs. Radha Yadav got one wicket.

This is the first season of WPL and only 9 matches have been played so far. But in these 9 matches, three bowlers took the maximum of five wickets in an innings. Marijen Kapp took five wickets on Saturday to break Tara Norris’ record. Tara scored 29 runs and took 5 wickets against Delhi Capitals team RCB. Tara became the best bowler in the WPL after this performance. But on Saturday, Marjan Kapp rose to the top of the list. Third on the list is Kim Garth. Kim Garth while playing for Gujarat Giants took 5 wickets for 36 runs against UP Warriors.

Marijen Kapp put in a brilliant performance to restrict the Gujarat giants to just 105 runs. In reply, Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning and Shefali Verma came on to open the innings. Shefali scored his own half-century in just 19 balls. Chasing the target, Shefali scored 76 runs off just 28 balls to give Delhi victory. Meg Lanning scored 21 runs off 15 balls.
