Maximum of warrior women! India beat Pakistan again in World Cup; Richa-Jemima tussle
The Indian team played their first match against arch rivals Pakistan in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa. In this match held in Cape Town, the Indian team defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets and made a winning start in the World Cup. Jemima Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh played a decisive role in the victory.
Both the teams started their World Cup campaign with this match. Pakistan captain Bisma Maroof won the toss and elected to bat first. Due to the bowling of Deepti Sharma, the Pakistan team could not play aggressively in the beginning. He reached 43 for 3 in 7.3 overs. Pakistan captain Bisma Maroof kept the team’s scoreboard moving by holding one side.
Ayesha Najeem, who came in to bat at number six, showed an aggressive game when the Indian team seemed to restrict Pakistan to a low score. She remained unbeaten till the end with Maroof and scored a quick knock of 43 runs off 25 balls. So, Maroof scored an unbeaten 68 to take the team to 149.
While chasing this challenge, Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia opened the Indian team with 38 runs in 5.3 overs. After Bhatia’s dismissal, Shafali increased the run rate with Jemima. Shafali scored 33 runs. Captain Harmanpreet contributed aggressive 16 runs.
After Harman’s dismissal, the match was tilted towards Pakistan when the wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh attacked the Pakistan team. She took the air out of Pakistan’s challenge by collecting five boundaries.
