Mayank’s flop show continues in IPL 2023! Expectations against KKR also changed

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders match was played in IPL 2023 on Thursday (May 4). Batting first, KKR set a challenge of 172 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in this match held at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. Sunrisers opener Mayank Agarwal once again failed in chasing this challenge.

Batting first, Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana and Andre Russell contributed significantly for KKR as they reached 171 for 7. Chasing these runs, Hyderabad were hoping for a good start. However, the pair of Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Agarwal could not give a big opening. The pair scored 29 runs in 2.5 overs. Mayank was dismissed by Harshit Rana. He scored 18 runs off 11 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had high expectations from Mayank Agarwal this season. After Mayank was released by Punjab, Hyderabad made a huge bid of Rs 8.25 crores and included him in their team. However, he could not live up to the expectations of him. He has scored 187 runs in 9 matches so far this season. Meanwhile, his average is 20.7 and the strike rate is 114. Interestingly, this does not include a single half-century. His average is the worst among players who have played at least 100 matches in IPL history.

When it comes to this match, Hyderabad did not disappoint the fans at their home ground. The 172-run challenge for victory was completed in the last over thanks to contributions from Henrik Klaassen, Aidan Markram and Abdul Samad.
