The Indian team suffered a 209-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the final of the World Test Championship 2023. After this defeat, there is a lot of criticism on the Indian team. Indian players are said to value IPL more than international cricket. Now, based on this, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has made a statement, due to which many people are praising him.
Starc is the most experienced Australian fast bowler. Although he was not as impressive in the final of the World Test Invincibles tournament, he dismissed both important batsmen Virat Kohli in the first innings and Ajinkya Rahane in the second innings. Along with this title, he became one of only four Australian players to win three major ICC tournaments. Talking about his success in international cricket, he said,
“I feel like money comes and goes. But I consider myself lucky to have got the opportunity to play for Australia. Fewer than 500 players have played international cricket for Australia in more than a hundred years. This is the thing that increases the excitement. So I don’t think it’s that sad if IPL doesn’t make money.”
Starc has won all three important tournaments for Australia, ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and now the World Test Championship. He last played in IPL in 2014. Then in 2018, KKR team included him in their team. However, he could not play a single match due to injury. After that he did not give his name in the IPL auction.
