Morne Morkel will work for the Pakistan team, got ‘this’ responsibility

Former South Africa fast bowler Morne Morkel has become Pakistan’s new bowling coach. Former South African cricketer Andrew Puttick can be made the batting coach for Pakistan’s batting coach post. Also, Mickey Arthur will continue to work as a guide for the Pakistan team.

PCB wants Mickey Arthur (Andrew Puttick) to hold the post of Pakistan team director. Arthur had earlier helped build Pakistan’s coaching staff. Now Grand Bradburn is going to be the head coach of Pakistan. Bradburn was previously Pakistan’s fielding coach. The team’s new bowling coach Morne Morkel is currently in India for IPL 2023.

The Indian Premier League 2023 season begins on Friday (March 31). Morne Morkel is serving as bowling coach of Lucknow Super Giants in this tournament. Looking at Morkel’s career, he doesn’t have much experience as a coach. But as a bowler, Morkel has performed tremendously for South Africa. This year’s IPL season will end in May. After this, Morkel will take over as Pakistan’s bowling coach.

Morkel is also the bowling coach of the Durban Super Giants team in the South Africa Twenty20 (SA20) tournament. He coached the Namibia team in T20 World Cup 2022. Morkel was also with the New Zealand women’s team in the Women’s T20 World Cup played in South Africa. Morkel, who made his Test debut against India in 2006, retired from international cricket in 2018. He played 86 Tests, 117 ODIs and 44 T20 Internationals for South Africa.
