Murphy blasts Indian batsmen on debut, becomes only fourth Australian to achieve ‘such’ record
The first match of the 4-match Test series between India and Australia is being played in Nagpur. In this match, which is being played from Thursday (February 9), the Australian team could not perform well in the first innings. They had to wrap up the innings on 177 runs. However, Australia’s spinner Todd Murphy shined well while bowling against the Indian team who came to bat. He did such a feat on his debut that he was included in the list of special records.
It happened that the Indian team came to bat after the innings of the Australian team was over. This time it was the first day of the test. Meanwhile, Australia’s debutant spinner Todd Murphy (Todd Muphy) caught Indian opener KL Rahul himself on the fifth ball of the 23rd over. This was his first wicket in his Test career. After this he took his second wicket in the very first ball of the 41st over as Indian batsman R Ashwin. He dismissed Ashwin in the leg.

In search of the third wicket, he trapped India’s ‘dependable batsman’ Cheteshwar Pujara in the spin net. He had Pujara caught by Scott Boland on the first ball of the 44th over. Then India’s explosive batsman Virat Kohli was caught in his spin net. He dismissed Virat on the first ball of the 53rd over by Alex Carey. After this he dismissed Indian debutant KS Bharat on the first ball of the 84th over. Bharat thus became his fifth wicket.

Murphy’s record
As soon as he took these 5 wickets, a special record was recorded in the name of Murphy. Murphy became the fourth player to take 5 wickets on Test debut for Australia. Before that, Peter Taylor (Peter Taylor) had done such a performance for the first time for Australia in a Test. He completed his quintet of wickets against England in Sydney during 1986/87. He took 6 wickets for 78 runs. Spinner Jason Krejza is on the second position in this list. He took 8 wickets for 215 runs against India at Nagpur in 2008/09.
After this, Nathan Lyon is the spinner at the third place in the list. He took 5 wickets for 34 runs against Sri Lanka at Galle in 2011. Murphy has now joined the list. (Off spinners taking 5-fer for Australia on Test debut)
