New Rules for MPL Play Offs! MCA cautioned against rain spoiling the game

The play off matches of the Maharashtra Premier League i.e. MPL 2023 organized by the Maharashtra Cricket Association will begin on Monday (June 26). After the end of fifteen league matches, the four teams who will play the play offs have been decided, and the following matches will be played between these teams. However, MCA has announced new rules for these matches.

The Qualifier One match will be played on Monday between Ratnagiri Jets who are ranked first in the league and Kolhapur Tuskers who are ranked second. So, in the eliminator match, third ranked Eagle Nashik Titans and fourth ranked Puneri Bappa team will meet. Qualifier two and the final match will then be played.

These four matches are rained out. MCA announced special rules for this. A reserve period of two hours has been extended for each match. So that there is no reduction in the overs. An over will be shortened after every 4 minutes 25 seconds if the match is played outside the reserve period. A minimum of five overs will be attempted in the match.

If even five overs are not played, the result of the match will be decided in Super Over. If the Super Over is also not possible, the match will go to the reserved time on the next day. This reserve time is 9 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. A match once started and stopped will be resumed from the point where it was stopped. In any case, if the match does not continue, the team which was higher in the points table will be declared the winner.

As heavy rain is currently going on in Pune, these matches will be affected by rain. These rules have been designed for that purpose.
