India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is currently recovering from an injury in a car accident last year. Pant is said to be recovering from the injury better than expected. However, it will take a long time for him to return to the field. In this way, his address is being cut from the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
This year, the Indian team wants to host the ICC ODI World Cup. Before that, the Asia Cup will also be played. Pakistan is likely to host the Asia Cup to be played in the month of September. The ODI World Cup will be played on the Indian pitch in the months of October and November. But there is no chance of Rishabh Pant getting fit for both the major competitions. According to information, Pant will have to wait till January 2024 to return to the field. Thus, it seems that the Indian team will feel the lack of Pant in both these tournaments.
Pant is the regular captain of the Delhi Capitals team in the IPL. But due to injury, he had to withdraw from the current IPL season. David Warner is leading the Delhi Capitals in Pant’s absence. Although unable to take the field, Pant certainly made an appearance on the field to encourage his team. It was also reported by people close to Pant that it may take a few more weeks for him to walk without any support.
Pant will have to wait at least seven to eight months to play cricket. According to sources, even after his return to the field, he will need more time to play as a wicketkeeper. Initially, he will be able to play only as a batsman. KS Bharath, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma could get a chance if Pant does not play as a wicketkeeper. Meanwhile, Pant is trying to get fit as soon as possible and is getting all the help he needs from the Board of Control for Cricket in India. (It is being said that the injured Rishabh Pant will not be able to play in the ODI World Cup)
