The New Zealand Cricket Board has announced the annual cricket awards for the year 2022. The awards were announced on Friday (March 24) morning. Different sportspersons made their mark on these awards in 11 different categories. All-rounder Darryl Mitchell won the Male Cricketer of the Year award and Amelia Karr won the Female Cricketer of the Year award.

Like every year, the New Zealand Cricket Board announced its awards. Daryl Mitchell won the Sir Richard Hadley Medal for the best male cricketer. Mitchell was a consistent performer last year. He scored 913 runs at an average of 70.23. He also managed to get nine wickets. He scored a brilliant knock of 160 in the Trent Bridge Test on the England tour.
Amelia Curren won the Debbie Hockley Medal for the best female cricketer in the women’s section. She had managed to score 423 runs and 17 wickets in T20 cricket. She averaged over 40 in ODI cricket as well. Kar also won the Women’s T20 Cricketer of the Year award. So, Suzy Bates won the best women’s ODI cricketer award.
Tom Blundell was adjudged the best Test player in the men’s category. So, Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips were honored as the best ODI cricketer and best T20 cricketer respectively. Kate Anderson in the women’s category and Dean Foxcroft in the men’s category were the winners of the award for domestic cricket. Chris Brown was adjudged the best umpire. Heath Mills was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to cricket.
