No Indian has achieved ‘this’ big record of IPL, all three in the list are foreigners
According to many, bowling in T20 cricket is even more difficult than ODIs and Tests. Because the batsmen are in an aggressive role in this format and the bowlers are often washed out. However, in the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL, bowlers have often been given a five-wicket haul. There are also some bowlers who have taken six wickets in an innings of an IPL match. In this article we are going to consider three such bowlers who have taken six innings in an innings. Interestingly, there is no Indian bowler in this list.
So far in IPL, there have been 28 bowlers who have taken 5 wickets in an innings. These Indian bowlers are also in great numbers. But there are three bowlers who have taken six wickets in an innings in IPL. As all three bowlers are foreigners, this performance has been really important.
Three bowlers to take 6 wickets in an innings in IPL
Pakistan’s Sohail Tanveer is the first bowler to take 6 wickets in one match in IPL. Sohail did this feat in the first season of IPL i.e. 2008. Tanveer did this performance in the match against Chennai Super Kings. Parthiv Patel, Stephen Fleming, Vidyut Sivakrishnan, LB Morkel, Muttiah Muralitharan and Makhaya Nitish were victims of Sohail’s bowling. After IPL 2008, Sohail Tanveer could not play in IPL. Because the political conflict between India and Pakistan increased and Pakistani players were banned from playing in IPL by India.
Adam Zampa is the second bowler to take 6 wickets in IPL. Zampa took 6 wickets for Pune Supergiants in IPL 2016. He took the wickets of Yuvraj Singh, Moises Henriques, Deepak Hooda, Naman Ojha and Bhunveswar Kumar against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016.
The third bowler in the list is West Indies’ Aljari Joseph. Joseph took 6 wickets in an innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2019. In this match, he bowled Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, David Warner, Rashid Khan, Siddharth Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Aljarri Joseph is the youngest player to achieve this feat.
