Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly expressed his displeasure after India’s crushing defeat in the WTC final. He said that Indian batsmen have to get used to playing big innings in big matches.

A match-winning performance has to be done
Speaking to Star Sports, Sourav Ganguly commented on the Indian batsmen. He said, “We have to come up with a match-winning display. As Steve Smith and Travis Head did, as MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir did in the 2011 World Cup. Only when the players have to score 90-100 runs, you can win a big match. What Ricky Ponting did in 2003, Smith and Head do here in 2023.”

‘Will win one or two matches, but not big matches’
Speaking further, he said, “In our time, now and in the future, if you want to win big matches and don’t score 350-400 runs in any one Test innings, you cannot reach a winning position. You will win one or two matches, but not the big matches.”

‘A great player is one who wins trophies on the big stage’
Also, Harbhajan Singh (Harbhajan Singh) also expressed his displeasure over the defeat of the Indian team. He said, “A great player is one who comes to the big stage and wins trophies for the country. As Smith did. Your personal records aside, but the big game has to be a big one. It has been 10 years since 2013. If he comes into the final and loses, doesn’t score runs, there must be some reason for that.”

He added, “You get false confidence by playing a two-and-a-half-day match and winning, that’s not going to work anymore. You have to work hard to win a Test match.”
