Mumbai Indians face each other at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday (May 24). In this match, Akash created a special record by taking the most wickets while conceding few runs. Also, Mumbai won the match by as many as 81 runs. Due to this, Mumbai directly entered the Qualifier 2 match. The hero of this victory was 29-year-old Akash Madhwal. He was honored with the man of the match award.

Batting first in this match, Mumbai Indians scored 182 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Cameron Green contributed the most in this. He played an innings of 41 runs. He shared a 38-ball 66-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav (33) for the third wicket. Chasing this challenge, Lucknow’s innings collapsed like a house of cards at 101 runs in 16.3 overs.

Akash then came in to bowl the 17th over of the innings and his fourth over. This time, Lucknow scored 100 runs after 16 overs. This time Akash bowled the first ball to Naveen Ul Haq. That ball was no run. Naveen then took a run off the second ball and Mohsin Khan came on strike.

Akash bowled the third ball while Mohsin was on strike and sent him into the tent for a triple. Akash completed his 5 wickets with this. Akash bowled 3.3 overs in this match and took 5 wickets at the expense of only 5 runs. He became the third highest bowler in IPL history. Before that, Alzari Joseph had taken 6 wickets for Mumbai for 12 runs. Also, second placed Sohail Tanveer took 6 wickets for 14 runs.

Interestingly, Akash had taken 4 wickets at the expense of 37 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous match.
