After winning two matches in a row, the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals faced another defeat. The 40th match of IPL 2023 was played on Saturday (April 29) between Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad beat Delhi by 9 runs in this match. After this defeat, India’s legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh has directly demanded that the captain of Delhi should be changed.

Harbhajan Singh, commentating after the loss to Delhi, who were leading the match at one point, said,

“Delhi will now have to take tough decisions. David Warner should be removed from the leadership and given this responsibility to all-rounder Akshar Patel. Having an in-form player who contributes in all three areas of the game as a captain will be beneficial.”

Akshar has shown tremendous consistency in batting and bowling throughout this season and is also the vice-captain of the team. With regular captain Rishabh Pant sidelined, Warner got the chance to lead this season. Delhi have lost six of the eight matches they have played so far. Accepting one more loss will see them face the shame of exiting the tournament.

In this match Sunrisers Hyderabad team won the toss and decided to bat. The decision taken by skipper Aiden Markram proved to be the right one for the Hyderabad players. This time, Hyderabad scored 197 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs while batting first.
