ODI WC 2023: Pakistan scared to play match in Ahmedabad, Najam Sethi warns ICC

Najam Sethi informed ICC about ODI World Cup
Pakistan Cricket Board President Najam Sethi (Pakistan Cricket Board President Najam Sethi) has expressed his fear to ICC President Greg Barclay (ICC President Greg Barclay) regarding the One Day World Cup matches to be held in Ahmedabad. According to reports, Najam Sethi has informed the ICC about playing a match against arch-rivals India at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium during the World Cup.

The PCB clarified that the matches are to be played in Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru. Barkley and ICC General Manager Geoff Allardyce had recently approached PCB officials. At that time he said that he will not look for a neutral venue in the One Day International World Cup. Because, ACC has rejected Pakistan’s demand to organize Asia Cup matches on ‘hybrid model’.

We will play matches only if Pakistan government gives permission
According to media reports, Najam Sethi informed Barkley and Allardyce that Pakistan did not want to play the match in Ahmedabad unless it was a knockout or final type match. PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has requested ICC (International Cricket Council) regarding this. At this time, he said that if the Pakistan government gives permission to play the World Cup, then all the matches of Pakistan in India should be held in Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata.

The Pakistan Board is currently worried about the security of the team in Ahmedabad. However, in 2005, the Pakistan team under the leadership of Inzamam-ul-Haq played a match at Motera. Sethi has also made it clear that the new revenue model will not be accepted if Pakistan’s share of ICC revenue does not increase for the next five-year cycle.
